'Children's Corner': Buddhism, Goats, And Sacred Places

On a rare afternoon off of work and the farm, I made a trip to the Mission Valley to clear my mind. I stopped at the Garden of One Thousand Buddhasin Arlee. It was my son Michael who first "enlightened" me about the eightfold path in the design of the garden. I then made my way north to Mission Dam.
At the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas, I discovered that Buddha embraced the qualities of patience, compassion and forgiveness, which happen to be the names of three of my goats.

I stopped at Mission Dam, which has become a sacred place to me after scattering a friend's ashes into Mission Creek a year-and-a-half ago.

Tune in to "Children's Corner" to hear more about my trip. I'll also talk about Buddhism, and how the teachings of Buddha — unbeknownst to me — made their way into my herd of goats.

Listen on your radio or online at 7:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5.
