On Tuesday, grizzly bear managers announced that a representative from Montana’s Department of Transportation will be joining their committee in hopes of reducing a growing number of bear deaths on highways.

Thirty one members of the Jesuit Order who served in Montana are on a list of those with “credible claims” of sexual abuse against them released on Friday.

The list from the Jesuits West Province includes 111 members from 10 western states that the Order says possibly or did abuse minors or vulnerable adults.

A Senate bill that aimed to make it easier to get substance abuse treatment in Montana is likely dead.

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — A pharmacy on Montana's Flathead Indian Reservation has been fined $95,000 for failing to account for 2,500 oxyodone tablets from March 2017 to March 2018.

The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted an inspection of the tribal pharmacy in St. Ignatius after learning about the missing opioids. Inspectors found pharmacy staff were not adequately tracking controlled substances. The pharmacy also failed to report to the DEA that oxycodone was missing.

The remains of a woman from the Flathead Reservation who’s been missing since last October have been identified by a North Dakota sheriff’s office. 

The Salish and Pend d’Orielle Tribes on the Flathead Reservation are trying something new to save their language — an app. The Tribes’ Culture Committee released the app last month.

St. Ignatius Police Chief Matt Connelly does laps around town as he patrols the streets. Police Chiefs in St. Ignatius have a history of not lasting very long, but Connelly says he wants to work in the town for the rest of his career.

Tribal wildlife biologists lethally removed two female yearling grizzly bears from the St. Ignatius area on Tuesday.

Biologists saw one of the yearlings chasing livestock. Similar reports have been noted around St. Ignatius.
