Today Montana’s Supreme Court denied a request from unions and lawmakers to find unconstitutional a ballot initiative that aims to create funding for brain research.

Days after I-181 qualified for the general election ballot in July, Montana AFL-CIO, Montana Taxpayers Association and several state legislators, on both sides of the aisle, asked the court to not allow the initiative to go to vote this November.

On Thursday, Montana’s Board of Regents will review a plan by Montana State University to re-name its computer science department the Gianforte School of Computing. The action would honor Greg and Susan Gianforte, whose family foundation pledged $8 million to MSU. Greg Gianforte is also running for governor as a Republican.

Labor Unions Back Juneau For Montana's Lone House Seat

Democratic U-S House candidate Denise Juneau kicked off her jobs tour today in Billings.

Juneau is currently the state school superintendent. She made her announcement in front of Medicine Crow Middle School, which is under construction.

“What better place than a construction site that’s actually building infrastructure for the community where students can learn,” she says.

Juneau says education and workforce training will prepare the workers of tomorrow. She wants them to be able to earn a living wage and raise their families in Montana.
