An avalanche left more than a dozen bicyclists trapped for hours on Glacier National Park’s Going-to-the-Sun road Monday. Crews worked to plow through the snow and get the bikers to safety.

KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — Glacier National Park officials plan to capture and mark 10 female grizzly bears as part of an ongoing effort to monitor the population in the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem.

The Daily Inter Lake reports park officials announced Wednesday that the trapping efforts will continue through October at various spots in the Montana park.

Recent lab results show a bald eagle that died in Glacier National Park in February died from lead poisoning. The news comes about two weeks after Yellowstone National Park reported a golden eagle found there in December also died from lead poisoning.

Glacier National Park released an environmental assessment Friday for a proposal to kill off non-native fish in a remote area. Biologists say that could help fortify native species against the threats of climate change, invasive species and habitat loss.

A missing Arizona man’s body was found in a Glacier National Park lake Tuesday.

The call came in Tuesday morning, "reporting that a member of their family was missing, that they thought that he might be in Glacier National Park," says Lauren Alley, spokesperson for the park.

A coalition of wildlife, conservation and outdoor recreation business groups has launched an effort to find ways to fund conservation and maintenance projects on public lands.

Eric Melson says the Montana Outdoor Heritage Project is trying to hear from 10,000 Montanans on what they value about the state’s public lands and outdoor recreation, and how those values should be funded.

Glacier National Park managers are implementing new lottery-based backcountry camping reservations intended to preserve the park’s overloaded internet system and campers’ chances at getting sites.

The new system will collect all campsite reservation requests placed opening day, this Friday, and process them in a randomly sequenced order.
