The Food Guys, Greg and Jon, are always grateful for the chance to prowl the farmers markets for vegetables. In June in Montana, they find favorites like pea shoots, garlic scapes, morel mushrooms and baby bok choy. Jon's been busy enjoying vegetable-rich recipes like Bang Bang Cauliflower and 15-Minute Sesame Ginger Noodles.

The Food Guys, Greg and Jon, praise Montana's annual huckleberry bonanza. Greg prefers the intensity he finds in small, early purple huckleberries for sale at Montana farmers markets from early to mid-July. As long as it's a huckleberry, Jon's not particular. "The difference between a blueberry and a huckleberry is the difference between Cheez Wizz and cheese."

Wednesday a joint U.S. House and Senate committee began a potentially week-long process of reconciling two versions of the Farm Bill. The current bill expires at the end of this month.

Small farm owners in the Flathead Valley worry one version could severely impact SNAP benefits in Montana.

Jon and Greg report on their haul from the local farmers market in early May: greens, beets, radishes, carrots, new potatoes, herbs, wild mushrooms, eggs, and even white asparagus, as well as bedding plants.
