Montana Public Radio

Pea Green Boat

Weekdays 4:00 PM -5:00 PM

The Pea Green Boat is a show for children of all ages, with stories, songs, poetry, and special guests - two and four-legged, and some with wings.

“The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat...” With its title borrowed from that Edward Lear poem, the Montana Public Radio Pea Green Boat sets sail each weekday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

In between the stories and songs, guests like Kate Davis from Raptors of the Rockies, and Brian Williams from the Montana Natural History Center cover the Nature Beat. Librarians from the Missoula Public Library share new and classic books every Monday, and the Poetry Club meets once a month.

Listeners can call in requests for birthday songs and favorite songs and stories:

New Kitty On The Farm

Jan 28, 2016
A bobcat, spotted on Sam Manno's farm.
Sam Manno

While I was moving hay in the hay loft goat barn I saw what I thought was a new stray house cat at the farm.

It was checking out an old log cabin about 100 feet north of the barn when I noticed it was quite large for a house cat. When it hopped up on the window sill to peer into the window, I noticed about half its tail was missing. While wondering how it lost the half of its tail I realized it was not a house cat at all, but a bobcat!

Jack, the farm dog and I gently encouraged the bobcat to move uphill and away from the goat barn.
