Author John Krakauer will get a hearing before the Montana State Supreme Court in April. The best-selling author and investigative journalist is arguing that the University of Montana should make public its disciplinary records for former Grizzlies quarterback Jordan Johnson.
Johnson was acquitted on the charge of sexual intercourse without consent in 2013 in Missoula County District Court.
In his latest book, Missoula: Rape and the Justice System in a College Town Krakauer says the University of Montana found Johnson guilty of rape, though, based on documents about an un-named student who faced identical charges at the same time as Johnson. The University says federal law prohibits it from releasing students’ educational records.
The Supreme Court will hear an oral argument in the case April 27 at Montana State University in Bozeman.
