Poll shows Americans love their forests – and are willing to pay for them

Americans love their national forests.

That's the general finding of a new poll commissioned by the National

"These are the people's lands. We all have a stake in their future."

Forest Foundation, the non-profit partner of the U.S. Forest Service. But that's not the surprising finding of the poll. In this feature interview, foundation President Bill Possiel talks with News Director Sally Mauk about the poll results. The bipartisan national poll was conducted by the Republican polling firm "Public Opinion Strategies" and the Democratic polling firm "Fairbank, Maslin, Maulin, Metz and Associates".

Retired in 2014 but still a presence at MTPR, Sally Mauk is a University of Kansas graduate and former wilderness ranger who has reported on everything from the Legislature to forest fires.
