Montana Public Radio Hires Capitol Bureau Chief Ahead Of 2020 Election

Shaylee Ragar is MTPR's Capitol Reporter

We're thrilled to announce that we've hired Shaylee Ragar to report on public policy, state government and elections while stationed in the statehouse in Helena.

“MTPR has a long history of covering the Legislature and the work being done at the State Capitol,” Broadcast Media Center Director Ray Ekness said. “We’re excited to have Shaylee on our team to ask tough questions of those holding power in our state.”

Ragar has worked at the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, covered the Montana 2019 session legislative session for the UM Legislative News Service and is an alumnus of the University of Montana School of Journalism. You've probably heard her voice on MTPR before.

“Joining MTPR’s incredible news team is a dream come true, "Ragar said. “I can’t wait to dive into the election and state policymaking.”

Montana Public Radio’s correspondent position in the statehouse was previously held by Corin Cates-Carney, who is now MTPR's news director.
