Montana Folk Festival in Uptown Butte, July 12-14

Mainstreet Uptown Butte

"Front Row Center," July 7th: Beth Anne Austein talks with George Everett, Executive Director of Mainstreet Uptown Butte, about the Third Annual Montana Folk Festival, July 12-14 in Uptown Butte.

The free three-day festival features many styles of traditional music.  From blues, bluegrass, Cajun and Irish music to Ethio-jazz and funk, Vietnamese dan bao, South Indian classical dance and Latin dance music, the sound of the festival is enormously diverse.

This year's Montana Folklife area craft demonstrations are all about rivers and headwaters: paddling and fishing them, creating baskets and moccasins from their plants.

Add a Family activities area and performance stage, two art marketplaces, food vendors, shuttles between stages, and the iconic mineyard headframe looming above the Original Stage, and you've got a free, full-service arts festival in the heart of the nation's largest National Historic Landmark district.
