WEST GLACIER, Mont. (AP) — Glacier National Park officials have deployed a game camera and empty "decoy" tent at a popular campground to watch for a bear that's believed to have torn into an unoccupied tent.

Park officials say an animal ripped through the side of the tent at Rising Sun Campground on Friday and pulled out bedding and pillows. Hair samples and a scat pile believed to be from a bear were found at the scene.

On Monday, the park banned tents and soft-sided campers from the campground until further notice. Hard-sided camping vehicles still are allowed.

Rising Sun Campground is near a known wildlife corridor and park officials say bears have been active in the area in recent weeks.

Glacier is home to black bears and larger, more aggressive grizzly bears.
