Flathead National Forest Approves Logging, Forest Restoration Project Near Hungry Horse Reservoir

Aug 24, 2018

A logging and forest restoration project on the east side of Hungry Horse Reservoir has been OK'd by the Flathead National Forest.

The draft decision kicks off a 45-day objection period, during which people or groups who have previously commented on the project can file an objection.

The Betty Baptiste Project calls for almost 1,000 acres of commercial logging, commerical thinning of another 550 acres, and prescribed burning on about 400 acres. Also planned is planting western white pine, ponderosa pine and mixed conifers on 262 acres.
