Evacuation order for Miller Creek fire lifted

This from the Montana DNRC:

The Evacuation Order for residents on Oral Zumwalt Way and throughout the Upper Trails End Road area has been lifted. Residents can now return to their homes. These roads and other roads in the area are only open to residents and firefighters.

The Miller Creek fire started during a late-night thunder storm on September 15th. The fire burned quickly, driven by strong winds through dry grass. The fire burned actively throughout the night and is estimated at 200 acres. The fire is being managed jointly by the Missoula Rural Fire Department and the Montana DNRC with evacuation assistance from the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office.

Roughly 60 homes have been evacuated on Oral Zumwalt Way and throughout the Upper Trails End Road area.

The western edge of the fire, the area most visible from Lolo, MT, is in steep terrain with limited access. The northern edge of the fire is approximately a mile and a half from homes. The fire is burning in a mixture of grass and timber.

No injuries have been reported.
