Draft Of New Flathead Compact Now Available

Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.

 

Negotiating teams for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, the State of Montana, and the United States today released a revised draft of a proposed water right compact.

Public meetings to inform stakeholders and the public, answer questions and solicit comments on the revised draft are scheduled for January 9, 2015, at the Ronan Performing Arts Center in Ronan, Mont. There will be a 4 p.m. meeting to discuss on-Reservation irrigators, followed by a 7 p.m. meeting for the general public.

A 9 a.m. meeting will take place January 10, 2015, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1840 Hwy 93 South, in Kalispell, for all interested parties.

A full commission meeting "to approve revised Compact" is scheduled for 7pm Jan. 12 at the Great Northern Hotel, 835 Great Northern Blvd., Helena.
