Deer Lodge Murder Suspect Confesses To Two Killings

A prosecutor says the man being held for the murders of two Deer Lodge residents has confessed.

“This past weekend David Wayne Nelson confessed to killing two individuals in Powell County,” says Ravalli County Attorney Bill Fulbright.

In a petition filed in court yesterday Fullbright says Nelson admitted killing Beverly and Gregory Giannonatti in an affidavit from his probation officer. Nelson also told authorities where the bodies were located and later took them to the dump site Sunday night.

Nelson hasn’t been charged in their deaths but is currently being held for violating probation on a 1998 kidnapping and robbery in Ravalli County.

“Powell County Sheriff’s office is the one in charge of the investigation. We’ll wait for any other information they develop.”

The  Giannonattis, a mother and son, were last seen on October 28.
