Coal spills out of a derailed train near Bozeman, Jan. 29, 2019.

Cleanup crews were on the scene of a train derailment today near the Trail Creek Road exit off I-90 between Bozeman and Livingston. An estimated 40 coal-filled cars were involved. The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m.

Gallatin County Emergency Management officials say a county plow cleared spilled coal from the road.

According to Montana Rail Link, there were no injuries to the crew and the train was not carrying hazardous materials since coal is classified as a non-hazardous commodity by The Federal Railroad Administration.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
