On this week’s episode of "Can Do," Jennifer Sheets, a writer and English professor at the University of Montana, talks about her success in winning the 2018 John Ruffato Business Startup Challenge, along with $22,000 in start-up funding.
Sheets entered the competition with no business background or training. But her idea to create StorySquares won over the contest judges. It's a web-based writing platform for individuals, schools, and businesses that would let users complete a writing task from beginning to end using digital storyboarding methods.
“Everybody knew I had no idea what I was doing, so I tried to take all this advice. But, by the end, I just thought, ‘Well, this is too much advice. What works for me?’”
Today on “Can Do: Lessons From Savvy Montana Entrepreneurs,” host Arnie Sherman and Jennifer Sheets discuss how this attitude propelled Jennifer to success and what the future holds for StorySquares.
Listen and learn on this episode: How to create a business with no business background; the importance of being authentic when pitching; and how improving your writing skills could elevate your value in the professional world.
