20 percent of Montana’s kids aren’t getting enough to eat

One in five Montana kids is going hungry.

People who want to change that sobering statistic are gathering in Bozeman next week for a statewide summit on how to end childhood hunger. The summit will take place September 23rd and 24th at Montana State University.
Minkie Medora is co-chair of the Montana Partnership to End Childhood Hunger. In this feature interview, Medora talks with News Director Sally Mauk about the 145,000 Montanans who are "food insecure" and the 20 percent of Montana kids who struggle with hunger.

Retired in 2014 but still a presence at MTPR, Sally Mauk is a University of Kansas graduate and former wilderness ranger who has reported on everything from the Legislature to forest fires.
