It's our spring pledge week at Montana Public Radio! We're in our first year operating without federal funding, and we need to raise $675,000 this week to stay on track.

You're here because public radio matters to you. Your support matters to public radio. Join us today to keep the news, music and educational programs you rely on available to everyone.

$10/month goes a long way, but any amount helps. Thank you!

Broadcast engineer

Broadcast engineers play an integral role in the radio and television industries, where they're responsible for keeping scheduled broadcasts running, setting up live broadcasts in the field or studio, maintaining and updating broadcasting hardware and software, and addressing broadcasting problems as they arise.

My background before taking on this role here at MTPR/KUFM included also being a broadcasting engineer for MontanaPBS/KUSM down in Bozeman for 2.5 years. We were essentially responsible for maintaining and repairing anything and everything in the plant as well as remote site visits/maintenance, planning/ordering/executing equipment acquisition, constructing transmitters, component-level analysis and repair, etc.
