Democrats in the Flathead Valley will select three candidates next week to replace House Rep. Zac Perry, who resigned in September. Flathead County Commissioners will select the new House District 3 representative early next month.

Perry resigned last month so he could return to school to get his master’s degree in education.

Because Perry resigned, his seat in the Montana House of Representatives will remain with the Democratic Party. House District 3 includes Columbia Falls, Hungry Horse and the North Fork of the Flathead River.

The Flathead County Democratic Central Committee is scheduled to meet Oct. 15 in Kalispell to vote on three candidates.

A fourth candidate did throw their hat in the ring, but withdrew. Later this month, Flathead County Commissioners will select from Debo Powers, Jill Rocksund and Gene Marcille.
