Motl Adds New Charges Against Wittich

Rep. Art Wittich (R) HD68

State Representative Art Wittich says Political Practices Commissioner Jonathan Motl is getting desperate in his effort to prove that Wittich committed ethics violations. As reported in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, Motl detailed new allegations in documents filed with a state district court in mid-November.

He says Wittich illegally accepted free services from an anti-union group in the 2010 campaign. Wittich, a Republican from Bozeman, says he followed the law:

“I paid for mail services.” Wittich said. “I paid market rate, and you know I paid what the invoice was. There were no free services. I paid for everything that I received, and I reported everything that I paid.”

Wittich is a facing trial in late March for campaign ethics violations, and could lose his seat in the state House if convicted. Motl is currently out of the state and was unavailable for comment.
