Missoula Home Sales Lagging, Prices Rising

Missoula's housing market is warming up just a bit.

In the words of Missoula Organization of Realtors President, Brint Wahlberg, it's slowly but steadily improving.

The number of homes sold the first six months of this year stands at 454, compared to 557 during the first half of last year. The median "sold price" rose to $220,500 from $214,000 during the same period in 2013.

Wahlberg explains to Edward O'Brien the three main factors behind the lagging sales. The first one is interest rates :

O’Brien first landed at Montana Public Radio three decades ago as a news intern while attending the University of Montana School of Journalism. His first career job out of school was covering the 1995 Montana Legislature. When the session wrapped up, O’Brien was fortunate enough to land a full-time position at the station as a general assignment reporter. Feel free to drop him a line at edward.obrien@umt.edu.
