When saxophone player Madaline "Mad" Duran started playing jazz in the late 60's, there weren't a lot of women jazz instrumentalists.
That didn't stop her from entering the male-dominated field to do something she loves. Duran and her husband, guitarist Eddie Duran, are known as "San Francisco's first couple of instrumental jazz."
Mad Duran was in Bozeman recently to perform at this year's Jazz Montana Festival celebrating women in jazz. In this interview with News Director Sally Mauk, Duran talks about how her training as a classical musician laid the foundation for her successful jazz career.
