MTPR At A Crossroads: A Message From William Marcus

Apr 8, 2015

Friends and Supporters:

Montana Public Radio is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. We’re also celebrating the listeners and contributors who have been our partners in building and sustaining this uniquely local public radio station. We’ve come a long way together since our early days as a tiny 10-watt station on the University of Montana campus. We are forever grateful for the community’s loyalty and support.

But amidst the celebrations, MTPR also finds itself at a crossroads.

MTPR Celebrates 50 Years With A Dance Party

Feb 4, 2015
Josh Burnham

Check out photos from Montana Public Radio's 50th anniversary party on Saturday. Thanks to all the listeners and supporters who joined us to celebrate!

The party started with story time for kids and families. After that, kids were treated to a presentation about raptors from Kate Davis. She brought four birds including a hawk and a great horned owl.

Later in the evening, MTPR DJs took the stage to kick off the dance party.

We were pleased that the family of MTPR founder Philip J. Hess joined us to celebrate and talk about Hess' legacy.

We got a great 50th anniversary message today from NPR CEO Jarl Mohn. Thanks Jarl!

Don't forget we're having a 50th anniversary party Saturday, Jan 31. It's free and all our listeners are welcome. Come dance to live DJs, enjoy food and drink, and help us celebrate!
