Whale's Age Tracked by Ancient Injury

An unsuspecting whale-hunting crew in Barrow, Alaska, discovered a "whale bomb" fragment in a 50-foot bowhead killed this spring. A Massachusetts whaling museum says the projectile dated to 1879. The whale's age was estimated at 130 years.
