HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Montana Department of Livestock officials have issued a public health alert urging people in the Missoula area to throw out or return meat products produced by K&C Foods after April 5.
The alert issued Tuesday says K&C Foods produced and distributed an unknown quantity of beef, pork and poultry products that weren't inspected because state regulators had suspended the company for unsanitary conditions.
State veterinarian Marty Zaluski says there have been no reports of anybody falling ill.
The ground beef, steaks, roasts, pork and poultry products are labeled K&C Foods and bear a state inspection sticker, even though they weren't inspected. The health alert says the products were sold to restaurants, individuals and businesses in and around Missoula.
Zaluski says the company refused to participate in a voluntary recall. A call to K&C Foods rang unanswered Tuesday.
