Glacier National Park lifted restrictions on tent campers today in the Many Glacier Campground.

Authorities placed a temporary ban on soft-sided campers and tents on June 30 after a 150 pound grizzly bear entered the campground and forced two campers who were cleaning fish to deploy bear spray.

The bear involved in the incident has not yet been captured. The park attempted to trap the bear after it left the campsite since it exhibited numerous signs of food-conditioning.

This past weekend, Glacier National Park rangers made 19 contacts for food storage violations, issuing citations and warnings, confiscating 12 unattended coolers from parking areas and moving unattended food to bear boxes at 2 campsites.

The park will continue to monitor for grizzly bear activity in the Many Glacier area.
