Cover your breath ... polish your teeth ...

It’s been nine years since the last release from The Pixies, and twenty six years since their first release, Come On Pilgrim.  Now in the same time they announce the departure of bassist Kim Deal, arrives a kicking new song, Bagboy.   It’s the same bratty, scratchy and rocking sound as ever:

In discussing Kim Deal’s departure, the band said in a statement: ‘We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies.

‘We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best.’

No word yet on whether there will be a new album, but you can download a copy of Bagboy, for free, from this link:

For good comparison, here’s how the Pixies sounded in 1988, when Where Is My Mind?  was released on their first full-length CD, Surfer Rosa.   This track was prominent in the final scene and credits for the 1999 film, Fight Club.
